Infertility/conception problems

What holistic path I would take if my wife and I had problems with conception and infertility.

by Thomas Martin

Before I EVER considered going to a fertility clinic and paying the exorbitant fees, here are the first things I would do:

  • I would eliminate all soy and soy by-products from the diets of both me and my wife
  • We will stop consuming all sugar and sugar substitutes such as Splenda and aspartame. We will not drink any sodas, including diet sodas.
  • Both my wife and I will start drinking whole, raw (non-pasteurized, non-homogenized) milk every day (about 10 ounces)
  • We will take magnesium oil (preferably from Ancient Minerals) daily.  I will spritz about 15 shots onto my skin, rubbing it in with my forearm.  I will likely do this just before bedtime. I will also be patient, knowing that it takes about 4 months of application before the magnesium becomes part of my cells and is then most effective
  • We will take iodine in the form of Lugol's Solution (a mix of iodine and potassium iodide). I will alternate between applying it to my skin and adding to water and drinking it.  About 10 to 15 drops per day.
  • We will stop eating all genetically modified foods (GMOs) as it has been recently shown that Monsanto's Roundup (of which GMOs have been saturated) inhibit conception.  So, I will shop for organic vegetables only and avoid all foods containing Corn, Wheat and once again SOY.
  • I will drink my magic morning elixir I describe in my book Just Do This One Thing: A Guide To Chronic Good Health.  Each morning I will take an organic lemon, cut it open and squeeze the juice of half into a coffee mug.  To that I will start by adding 1 teaspoon virgin, organic coconut oil and then pour 12 ounces of warm water (approximately 115 degrees F) over the mixture.  If the taste was too tart, I will add 2 teaspoons of raw, organic honey.  Each week, I will increase the amount of coconut oil by 1 teaspoon.   I will keep doing this until I am taking 3 to 5 tablespoons a day.
  • I will drink bone broth daily.
  • I will take Cod Liver Oil, daily
  • I will have all mercury amalgam fillings removed from my mouth by a dentist specially trained to safely removed them.
Sound too good to be true?  Don't let that stop you.

Male Sexual Dysfunction (Including ED)

What Natural or Holistic path I would take if diagnosed with erectile dysfunction (ED) or some other sexual performance problem

by Thomas Martin

The major cause of ED issues is a side effect of high blood pressure medications.   So first, I will address my high blood pressure through a natural approach outlined in my post on High Blood Pressure.  I will monitor my BP and as it drops, I will talk to my doctor about eliminating the medications.

In addition to that approach, I will take the following vitamins, herbs, minerals and amino acids to help enhance my performance:

  • I will first take the amino acid blend arginine and ornithine.  About 2,000 mgs of arginine and about 1,000 mgs of ornithine.
  • I will then add whey protein powder to my diet
  • I will take pycnogenol
  • I will take ginseng
  • I will then take the herb Horny Goat Weed (adjust the dose as necessary).
  • I will take about 10,000 mgs of Vitamin D3 per day
  • I will take a zinc supplement, 50 to 150 mgs per day
  • I will eliminate bad fats such a canola, corn and soybean oils and replace them with coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil
  • I will replace sugar with raw, organic honey as much as possible and not use any artificial sweeteners
  • I will stop all use of fluoride, by filtering my water and by changing toothpastes to a non-fluoride brand
  • I will stop eating anything containing MSG
  • I will start doing weight training exercises.
  • I will increase the organic foods I eat which are rich in flavonoiods such as:
    • Gala Apples
    • Bananas
    • Nectarines
    • Peaches
    • Blueberries
    • Blackberries
    • Grapefruit
    • Strawberries
    • Raspberries
    • Plums
    • Cherries

Amazing Cancer Story(s)

My conversation with a local chiropractor
by Thomas Martin

I went to a new, local chiropractor because of a coupon I had purchased online.  I arrived early to fill out the necessary paperwork and indicated that in the past I had had a heart problem.  While waiting, I noticed the table in the center of the room had a couple of very serious books on nutrition and health.  I also noticed a sign on the wall asking, "Have you had your fish oil today?"   I decided this doctor might be a good candidate for my new book.

I retrieved a book from my car and waited to be called in.

The doctor came out, called me and as we were walking down the hall asked me about my heart issue.  I briefly told him my story and he asked, "What exactly did you do to heal your heart."  I told him about that as well and then presented him with my newest book, Just Do This One Thing: A Guide To Chronic Good Health.

He quickly flipped through the book, smiled and said, "We are going to get along just fine.  Let me tell you my story."

Several years earlier, he was diagnosed with cancerous tumors on his testicles.  The oncologist told him that they would need to be removed.  My doctor was not impressed and said he would go off and seek other opinions and options.  Like me, he fell on the holistic side of the fence and took a natural/dietary approach to his cancer.  The tumors disappeared and no surgery or allopathic treatment of any kind was necessary.  His oncologist, unable to admit there was anything he didn't know, simply labeled it a miracle.

A few years later, my doctor's father was diagnosed with leukemia.  After many discussions, the father also took the same approach as his son.   That was five years ago and the father's white blood cell count is back to normal.

Cancer does not have to be a death sentence, but if you follow the allopathic model, it most likely will be one.  The most important issue in preventing and reversing cancer is to move your body's pH balance from acid to neutral, this then starves the cancer and it dies.  This process is outlined in my book Just Do This One Thing and also on this web blog under Cancer

Take control of your life and your health.  The answers exist, but they are not inorganic, chemical pharmacological answers.  Like your body, they are organic solutions.

Fibromyalgia

What Natural or Holistic Path I Would Take If Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia
by Thomas Martin

Fibromyalgia is an ailment of inflammation.  There is no pharmaceutical drug that directly reverses inflammation, it is only reversible through our diets.

I do believe people suffer from the symptoms of this ailment, but I am not sure I believe there really is a specific "disease."  Eliminate the inflammation in your body and increase your body's pH balance from acid to balanced and the symptoms will disappear.

I have found in my own experience that fibromyalgia is also fueled by a depressive attitude.  In working with these sufferers, never have I encountered so many who are so fatalistic and who have given me so many excuses as to why they can't follow an anti-inflammation routine.

I must remember if I have this ailment, if I do nothing to reverse it, I will likely have heart disease, cancer and/or arthritis later on.

If depression is a problem, I will start by either getting out into the sun every day or supplementing Vitamin D3 (around 5,000 to 10,000 IUs per day).  I will also take Niacin (Vitamin B3) starting at 500 mgs and increasing weekly until I reach 3,000 mgs daily.  Both vitamins I will take with food.

To address the inflammation here is what I will do:

  • I will take magnesium oil (preferably Ancient Minerals). I will spritz 10 to 15 shots of the liquid on my skin each day, preferably before bed, and rub it in with my inner forearm.
  • I will take Lugol's Solution Iodine (a blend of iodine and potassium iodide).  Like the magnesium oil, I will apply this to my skin (about 10 to 15 drops) again rubbing it in with my inner forearm.
  • Every morning upon rising, I will mix the juice of 1 organic lemon with warm water (approx. 115 degrees) to which I will add 1 tablespoon of virgin, organic coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of raw, organic honey.
  • I will eliminate all sugar and all chemical sugar substitutes from my diet.
  • I will take Cod Liver Oil, daily,
  • I will take Vitamin D3, 5,000 to 10,000 i.u.s daily with meals
  • I will stop using microwave ovens to cook or heat my food.
  • I will drink bone broth daily
  • I will use only raw, organic honey to sweeten my foods (if absolutely necessary).
  • I will eliminate all genetically modified foods from my diet, including all soy and soy byproducts, corn (especially high fructose corn syrup), and all wheat (including whole grains).
  • I will eliminate all vegetable oils from my diet, as most are from GMO sources.
  • I will add virgin, organic coconut oil to my diet, taking about 1 to 5 tablespoons per day
  • If possibly, I will buy a alkaline water system and drink 8 glasses of the water daily.
  • I will start a juicing program of raw, organic vegetables following the advice I have laid out in my book Just Do This One Thing, ensuring I use quite a bit of organic celery in the juice.
  • I will make and drink kombucha daily.
  • I will take St. John's Wort daily.
  • I will have all of my mercury amalgam filling safely removed by a dentist specially trained in this procedure

    Obesity, Weight Loss

What Natural or Holistic Path I Would Take If Diagnosed With Obesity
    by Thomas Martin

Here is what I would do if diagnosed with obesity or needed to lose even a modest amount of weight.  This is the order of the most likely to work to the least likely:
    • I will take magnesium oil (preferably from Ancient Minerals) daily.  I will spritz about 15 shots onto my skin, rubbing it in with my forearm.  I will likely do this just before bedtime. I will also be patient, knowing that it takes about 4 months of application before the magnesium becomes part of my cells and is then most effective
    • I will take iodine in the form of Lugol's Solution (a mix of iodine and potassium iodide). I will alternate between applying it to my skin and adding to water and drinking it.  About 10 to 15 drops per day.
    • I will start drinking my Lemon Health Tea.  Upon rising in the morning, I will take an organic lemon, squeeze out the juice, put it water which has been warmed to about 115 degrees F, add two teaspoons virgin, organic coconut oil and two teaspoons local, raw honey.
    • I will take Fermented Cod Liver Oil/Butter Oil daily,
    • I will take Chromium Picolinate, 200 mcgs, daily,
    • I will focus on my gut health.  I will take Betaine HCL tablets (approx. 650 mgs) with each meal.  I will make my own yogurt and eat some of it daily.  I will make my own kombucha and drink 8 to 16 ounces daily.  I will ferment my own vegetables and eat some of the mixture daily as well.  If these things are not possible, along with the Betaine HCL tablets, I will take Bio-Kult capsules to provide my digestive system with a broad spectrum of probiotics.
    • I will stop using all artificial chemical sweeteners such as aspartame, Splenda, and saccharine.  I will also stop eating anything containing monosodium glutamate (MSG) as well as glutamic acid (which is just another name for MSG).  To sweeten my foods, I will instead us local, raw, organic honey.
    • I will take about 400 mgs of green coffee extract with each meal to minimize glucose spikes
    • I will stop consuming all refined sugars and all high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).
    • I will eliminate all genetically modified foods from my diet including wheat, corn and especially soy and also eliminate all vegetable oils such as canola, corn, cottonseed and soybean.
    • I will not concern myself with joining a gym or getting a trainer, knowing that this is not the best or fastest path to weight loss.  Instead I will begin walking near my home working up to one mile per day, walking briskly.
    • I will start a juicing program, as described in my section about cancer.  I know that the more good nutrition I get into my body, the less I will crave bad nutrition.

    • I will take L-Tryptophan each night before bed
    • I will also consider not eating mushrooms
    • Each morning I will drink a mixture of Tom's Magic Elixer Tea, adding a pinch of Himalaya sea salt to the mixture
If none of this works after four months, I will research further into herbal solutions such as lavender.

    Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus

What Natural or Holistic Path I Would Take If Diagnosed With Rheumatoid Arthritis or Lupus

    by Thomas Martin

Most auto-immune diseases have the same common link:  Poor Gut Health.  These steps are not new to this blog, but I want to emphasize their importance.

Here is what I will do.  I know the more steps I take, the better the results:
    • I will eat whole milk, organic yogurt every day.  If possible, I will make my own using new culture for each batch.  I make a half gallon of full fat milk yogurt each week.  I make my yogurt, using a Yogourmet maker as well as their brand of starter.  I use only whole milk, preferably non-homogenized and even further, I use raw, whole milk.  I will avoid most store bought yogurts as they contain a wide variety of non-essential chemicals and sugars.
    • I will add fermented vegetables to my daily diet.  Sauerkraut is the most common, but I make sure the brand I buy is fermented rather than pickled.  Bubbies is a good brand.  Non-pasteurized Korean Kim Chi is also a good choice.  Again it is best to make my own.  I mix cabbage, onions, carrots, parsley, garlic, ginger and cucumbers, let it ferment for a week, refrigerate and then add it to many of the foods I eat.
    • I will take 10,000 IU of Vitamin D every day.
    • I will take Cod Liver Oil, daily,
    • I will eliminate all wheat, soy and corn from my diet.
    • I will take curcumin or turmeric to help with inflammation
    • I will drink Kombucha daily.  Kombucha is a fermented tea that provides my body with a good hit of probiotics.  It is available in many specialty stores, one brand being “Synergy.”  Although they look fruity and sweet, they are actually a bit sour to the taste.  I can also make your own Kombucha – many sites on the web can tell me how.
    • To help with the pain, I will take curcumin/turmeric and fresh ginger daily.
    • I will take Betaine HCL tablets with each meal.  Low stomach acid is often associated with people suffering from skin disorders as well as asthma and autoimmune disorders.  If I also have problems with heartburn or acid reflux, this step will make a huge difference.
    • Eliminate all sugars from my diet – this includes all artificial sweeteners.  If I must use something sweet, I will use raw, organic honey (locally harvested, if possible) or real maple syrup.
    • I will take a zinc supplement daily (50 to 150mgs).
    • I will eat a diet of unprocessed foods, one rich in organic vegetables and nutrient-dense meat and dairy.

DISCLAIMER:  I am in no way recommending treatments or cures on this blog.  This blog is merely a compilation of what I have learned about a diet based, natural approach to health.
